Generating Components

With JetMock, you can quickly generate Jira project components with random names and prefixes. This feature allows you to create multiple components for selected projects, providing an efficient way to test and populate your Jira instance with mock data.

Steps to Generate Components

  1. Open the “Components” Page: Navigate to the “Components” section in the JetMock app to start the component generation process.
  2. Configure Your Component Generation: In the form, you’ll find the following fields to customize the component generation:
    • Projects to Generate Components For: Select the Jira projects where you want the components to be created. Only projects that support components will be available for selection.
    • Number of Components to Generate per Project: Enter the number of components you’d like to create for each selected project. Ensure this number is greater than 0.
    • Component Name Prefix: Add a prefix to all component names. This helps with categorizing or distinguishing components (optional).
    • Component Name Suffix: Add a suffix to all component names (optional).
  3. Generate Components: After filling in the desired settings, click Generate Components to begin the process. JetMock will start creating components for each project you have selected.
  4. Monitor the Progress: As the components are being generated, the progress will be displayed in real-time. You can see the status of each component being created and ensure that the generation process is working smoothly.
  5. Completion: Once the generation process is completed, the components will appear in the list, each with a unique name based on your prefix and suffix settings.

Notes

  • Permissions: Ensure that you have the necessary Jira permissions to generate components.
  • Caution: Be cautious when generating components as they may clutter your Jira instance with dummy data. Use this feature primarily for testing or demonstration purposes.
