Generating Versions
With JetMock, you can generate Jira project versions with random names and custom prefixes or suffixes. This is useful for testing, sandbox environments, and training materials, allowing you to populate Jira with multiple versions quickly.
Steps to Generate Versions
- Open the “Versions” Page: Navigate to the “Versions” section in the JetMock app to begin generating project versions.
- Configure Your Version Generation: The form offers several customizable fields:
- Projects to Generate Versions For: Select the Jira projects where you want the versions to be created. Only projects that support versions will appear in the list.
- Number of Versions to Generate per Project: Specify how many versions to create for each project. Ensure this number is greater than 0.
- Version Name Prefix: Optionally, add a prefix to all version names for easy identification.
- Version Name Suffix: Optionally, add a suffix to all version names to distinguish them.
- Generate Versions: After filling out the form, click the Generate Versions button to begin the generation process. JetMock will start creating the specified number of versions for each selected project.
- Monitor the Progress: As the versions are generated, you can see the progress in real-time. The app will update the table with new version names as they are created.
- Completion: Once the process is completed, the generated versions will be listed in the table. You can now view and manage them in your Jira projects.
Notes
- Permissions: Make sure that you have the necessary Jira permissions to generate versions for the selected projects.
- Caution: Generating a large number of versions may clutter your Jira instance with dummy data. Use this feature mainly for testing or demonstrating your app.
